Recently, the El Salvador project was contacted by a peace corp volunteer working in the same region about providing technical assistance to implement a water treatment system. The initial water quality tests indicated high levels of manganese, iron, nickle, and turbidity due to the presence of mining industry in the area. Gabriel Illingworth and Chris Carusiello from the El Salvador team have taken point on the project and have been facilitating responses and expertise to work with the community on arriving at a sustainable solution for their water treatment system. Attached is a map showing the region the project is located. Collaborations between Engineers without Borders and both Government organizations and NGOs on the ground are one of the many ways members can participate on the team.
