End of Year Giving 2022 – Thank You!

Dear EWB-DC Supporters,

We want to thank everyone for their support during this year’s giving season! Thanks to everyone’s support we were able to meet and exceed our goal of $3,000 during the 2022 giving season. Your continued support allows us to spend more time working with our community partners around the world to build vital infrastructure to meet their basic human needs and thrive.

The Cameroon Project Team successfully completed their water supply project! Since May 2012, EWB-DC has been working with community partners in Mbokop to expand and improve on their existing water supply system in order to provide a reliable supply of clean water to 2,200 people. Beginning in early 2015, the EWB-DC team broke ground on the installation of a spring-fed, gravity water system, and completed the project in 2022 with a remote implementation to finalize the system connections. The project team is so grateful to all their supporters for helping make this project a reality.

The Panama Project Team was able to travel in-person to continue developing the community center in Hato Rincon, Panama. The travel team worked to complete the construction of the front porch slab and roof. They plan to return in 2023 to complete windows, install the door, build custom furniture, paint the structure, and successfully turn over a functional library to the community.

The Peru Project Team was able to travel in-person to assess potential sources for sufficient flow and water quality to be considered for the proposed water supply system. The travel team spoke with community members to identify potential resources and contractors for constructing the water supply system. In 2023, the project team aims to perform an alternative analysis and determine the best path forward in developing a sustainable water supply system.

The Sierra Leone Project Team was able to successfully complete a remote assessment trip to further assess the river crossing within their partner community. The team plans to travel in-person to the community for the first time in 2023! This trip will allow the team to connect with their community partner, collect survey information and compile geotechnical data.

Our local community team successfully completed the construction of an irrigation system for garden beds in Washington DC as well as the design for the addition of an accessibility ramp. We look forward to finishing this construction in 2023 as part of a collaborative project with Howard University, ASCE, Clark Construction and multiple area organizations.
